Meet the Team

The talented minds behind Halali's mission to revolutionize Sharia-compliant finance in the UK.

Khalid

Khalid

Founder, Halali

Khalid is the founder of Halali and the driving force behind its vision. As a pioneering marketer and founder of Social Adverts, he has built a strong reputation in lead generation.

Over the years, Khalid was frequently approached by conventional mortgage providers who wanted his agency to generate business for interest-based home finance products. Although the opportunity was commercially attractive, it did not align with his personal values and his commitment to avoiding riba. Recognising that many Muslims in the UK face the same challenge when trying to buy a home, Khalid developed the concept for Halali — a platform created to connect Muslims with halal home finance options. As Halali began to grow, Khalid also recognised another issue in the market: many providers claiming to offer Islamic finance lacked a strong understanding of the underlying Islamic financial principles or were slow and unresponsive when dealing with enquiries from the community. To strengthen Halali and ensure the right expertise was in place, Khalid approached Irfan, whose background in finance and commitment to moving away from riba aligned with the mission of the platform. Today, Khalid continues to lead Halali with a clear purpose: helping Muslims access pathways to home ownership through services that aim to respect both their financial needs and their religious values.

Irfan

Irfan

Co-Founder, Halali Finance

A founding member and co-owner of Halali, Irfan brings several years of experience from within the UK property finance sector.

Earlier in his career he worked in conventional finance, but over time he became increasingly uncomfortable participating in interest-based financial structures. After reflecting on the ethical and spiritual implications of working within riba-based finance, Irfan made the decision to step away from that sector and focus on work aligned with Islamic financial principles. When the vision for Halali was presented, the mission immediately resonated. Together with his co-founder, they established Halali as a platform operated by Muslims, for Muslims — focused on helping the community explore pathways to home ownership while remaining committed to halal financial principles. Today, Irfan remains dedicated to supporting families who wish to avoid riba and pursue home ownership in a way that aligns with their faith, values, and long-term financial wellbeing.

Sheikh Usamah

Sheikh Usamah

Islamic Finance Specialist, Halali

Usamah Ahmed brings together a rare combination of traditional Islamic scholarship and analytical academic training to support Muslims seeking halal pathways to home ownership.

Usamah graduated with a degree in Physics from University College London in 2022. Alongside his university studies, he completed his Hifz in 2021 at Bury Park Educational Institute, demonstrating early dedication and discipline in the study of the Qur'an. While studying Physics, Usamah also embarked on a rigorous seven-year Alimiyyah programme specialising in Islamic sciences. After completing his degree, he continued these studies full-time at the boarding seminary Darul Uloom Dewsbury, graduating in 2025. His training covered classical Islamic jurisprudence, with particular attention to fiqh al-mu'amalat (Islamic commercial law), contracts, and the principles governing halal and haram financial transactions. In 2023, Usamah further broadened his scholarly exposure by studying Arabic literature and prose in Mauritania, deepening his engagement with traditional texts and classical scholarship. During his studies, while many students paid limited attention to detailed discussions on finance and buyū' (commercial transactions), Usamah developed a particular interest in the subject. He invested significant time in studying both classical rulings and contemporary financial structures, building a strong foundation in Islamic commercial jurisprudence as well as modern secular finance through extensive reading and independent research. At Halali, Usamah combines analytical precision with traditional scholarship, helping ensure that clients are guided through home finance options with clarity, integrity, and a strong grounding in both Islamic principles and practical financial understanding.
